This province has high mountains, plain areas and deep and shallow ridge areas, which can be divided into 4 areas as follows
1) Mountain valleys and high land of the southern part of Province are more than 250-meter high from the sea level, and they are in Pakchong District, Pak Thong Chai District, Wang Nam Khiaw District, Khonburi District and Soengsang District. The mountains are the origin of several rivers flowing through this region including Moon River, Lam Chae, Lam Phraphoeng, and Lam Plaimas. Areas between the mountain are mostly deep and shallow ridges and the lower part of the mountains is substantially steep leading to high rate of landslide in this area.
2) Highland in the central of Province is 200-250-meter high from the sea level in Dan Khuntod District, Si Khiew District, Theparak District, Phra Thongkham District, the lower part of Non Thai District, Kham Thale Sor District, Mueang District , Sungnoen District, the upper part of Pak Thong Chai District and Khon Buri District, Chokchai District, Nong Bunmak District, Chakarat District and Soeng Sang District. Most areas are shallow ridge except for the areas near the hill which are deep ridge. Some parts are plain area along the rivers such as Lam Chae, Lam Phraphoeng, Lam Takhong, Lam Nam Moon and Lam Chakarat.
3) Ridged area in the northern part of the Province is 200-meter high from the sea level in Kham Sakae Sang District, the upper part of Nonthai District, Kong District, the west side of Bua Yai District, Ban Lueam District, Huai Thalang District and Chumphuang District, Lam Thamen Chai District. It contains shallow ridges with high land alternating with rice farms. some parts are plain area along the rivers of Lam Chiang Krai and lam Plaimas.
4) The plain area in the northern part of the province is high from the sea level less than 200 meters in Bua Yai District, Khong District, Nonsung District, Pratai District, Phimai District, Sida District, Bua Lai District and Mueang Yang District. it is area with shallow ridges and plain areas along the river sides.
